Gas Safety Week 2016 – What is it all about?

Posted on September 22, 2016

Gas safety is very important, but it is something which often gets forgotten about. Gas Safety Week (19th-25th September), is an awareness event arranged every year by the Gas Safe Register. With lots of companies and organisations signing up to take part, the event raises awareness of the importance of looking after and maintaining your gas appliances.

What are the risks?

Not looking after your gas appliances can have very dangerous consequences, including tthings like gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning. Gas Safety Week is designed to promote safety tips and best practice to help keep more families and businesses safe. These include simple things like:

  • Having a service every year and carrying out basic checks on all of your gas appliances
  • Making sure that all work and maintenance is completed by Gas Safe Registered engineers
  • Double checking your engineer’s Gas Safe ID card before any work is carried out

We pride ourselves on making sure that all of our boiler engineers are Gas Safe Registered. This means that they are on the official list of people who have had the training to work safely with gas boilers, cookers and fires. You can take a look at this list via the Gas Safe website.

On top of this, we always aim to encourage our customers, as well as people in the local area, to arrange an annual service for all of their gas appliances.
